What is plasma cutting?
Plasma is a high-temperature, high-velocity stream of ionised gas. A stream of gas is ionised by an electric arc, and when that stream is directed at stainless steel, carbon steel or spring steel, it causes the metal to become molten and blown away, creating a cut.
Why use plasma cutting?
Plasma is more powerful than a laser, especially for thicker metal sheets, or when cutting more than one sheet at a time. It is also usually more cost-effective because no extra custom or specialised tools are needed.
This method is generally used for 2D shapes or other components that do not require a high level of precision or detailing.
